Place of happiness 24. The Weeping Willows of Church Mount
A wooden church stood on the slope more than 1,000 years ago. The chapel in the valley stands under sky-high weeping willows and beeches. During World War II, it was destroyed. But the neighbourhood rebuilt the chapel. This was done with great craftsmanship and durable materials: a floor of natural stone, walls of field firestone, bluestone columns, a wrought-iron gate and mouse teeth at the top of the side walls.
Just sit on the bench and listen to the rustling of the trees. Now that is enjoyment. The chapel behind Vlodrop's Sint Martinuskerk is located at the junction Kerkbergweg/Kasteelweg. You can park on the Markt and then walk to the chapel.
