It is the perfect time of year to grab your bike and enjoy the beautiful nature and the pleasant Limburg life. With an extensive network of cycle paths and junctions, you can explore this beautiful region endlessly here. Don't forget to make the occasional stop at one of the many terraces along the routes. Here you can enjoy a refreshing drink and taste the local specialities, such as a delicious piece of Limburg vlaai (flan). We have highlighted nine beautiful summer cycling routes for you.

1. Pedalling through the Meuse and Swalm valleys

The cycling route along junctions 'Pedalling through the Meuse and Swalm valleys' takes you past beautiful views of the Meuse and picturesque hamlets, in a beautiful part of Limburg along the border with Germany.

2. Happiness spots in Roerdalen

This cycling route takes you through the municipality of Roerdalen, a beautiful region in the middle of Limburg. The river the Roer meanders through the landscape and you cycle alongside stretch pastures, fields, deciduous and coniferous forests. The route passes 26 locations that make the residents of Roerdalen happy, the so-called Happiness Spots.

3 Windmill route

The Windmill Route passes seven windmills in the municipalities of Weert and Nederweert. Together, these municipalities have eight windmills, three of which are still in operation. The windmills are located in the beautiful nature reserve GrensPark Kempen~Broek in Weerterland.

4. The Delightful Peel Route

The Delightful Peel Route takes you through the beautiful Peel region and the cosy centre of Nederweert. Along the way, there is a wide choice of resting places and catering establishments.

5. Rural Leudal

Nature reserve the Leudal is a fine example of a stream valley in which the Zelsterbeek and the Leubeek freely make their way and have carved the valley deeply. This route leads you across the countryside, past characteristic villages and the special nature of the Leudal.

6. Cycle route Grensmaas

The Grensmaas cycle route takes you along both banks of the Meuse in Dutch and Flemish Limburg. The 1000 ha of nature is part of the cross-border nature reserve 'Rivier Park Maasvallei', with plenty of opportunities on both the Flemish and Dutch sides to enjoy the vast Maas landscape.

7. Around by ferry

The cycle route 'Around by ferry' takes you along the beautiful countryside formed by the flow of the Meuse. During the tour along cycle junctions, you cross the Meuse twice using ferries.

8. Between Dragons and Vikings

On this 'Between Dragons and Vikings' cycle tour, you will cycle through the rural countryside on the east side of the Meuse via the Dragon village of Beesel to the former Vikings fortress of Asselt.

9. Around Geijsteren Estate

The cycle route 'Around Geijsteren Estate' takes you (as the title suggests) along the Geijsteren Estate. The Geijsteren Estate consists of beautiful natural areas, farms and fields. The estate is located right on the river Meuse in the northernmost tip of Limburg.
