Stolpersteine

Two Stolpersteine where placed here. Jeanette Vogelsang was married to Hermann Passmann. The couple had two children. Hermann Passmann died in Roermond in January 1935. Their two children survived the war.

Jeannette Vogelsang was arrested during an attempt to escape to Switzerland. She was interned in Mechelen (Belgium) and from there deported to Auschwitz. There, presumably because of her 'Jewish appearance', she was selected for anthropological research. Together with 85 other prisoners she was taken to Natzweiler, where she was murdered for 'scientific purposes'. The bodies were intended for an intended anatomical museum at the University of Strasbourg. Towards the end of the war, all the evidence of this experiment was destroyed.
