Stolpersteine

Stolpersteine in memory of the Sternfeld family.

The Sternfeld family

Alex Sternfeld en Rosalie Egger, had a shop in Roermond. The couple had three children, two of whom no longer lived with their parents. One of them was Albert. When German soldiers entered Roermond, the family fled. They probably returned to Roermond after a short time.

Two of their children, Joseph Sternfeld and Albert Sternfeld, were already living away from home. Alex Sternfeld was offered the opportunity to go into hiding, but he went to Westerbork because his wife could stay at home, and he was afraid that she would suffer the repercussions of his disappearance. His sons Albert and Leo Sternfeld followed him to Westerbork so as not to abandon him. Rosalie Egger went into hiding later but was betrayed. Joseph Sternfeld escaped to England at the end of 1944.
