Kasteel De Keverberg

Party location

On the border of North and Central Limburg lies Castle De Keverberg, the most modern castle in the Netherlands, a fantastic location for a day out full of history, adventure and architecture.

One of the oldest castles in our country is also the most modern. The castle De Keverberg was renovated in 2015. Today, with its wonderful location on the Meuse, it is a unique venue for conferences, weddings and other celebrations. Situated on the border between North and Central Limburg, it is also the perfect place for a stopover on an excursion to discover history, adventure and architecture. Of course, you can also simply stop by for a delicious cup of coffee or a delicious special beer.

It all began in the year 950, when the Counts of Kessel were granted customs rights. In order to give emphasis to these rights, they built a large stone tower. Around the year 1250, this was half demolished and buried under the sand of the present artificial hill, also known as the moth. When it was rebuilt in 2015, the tower was partially made visible again and can now be visited in the cellars of the castle. So there are actually two castles one above the other - where else can you find that?

You will also be surprised by the miraculous story of the last nobleman who lived there, Baron Frits van Keverberg. How he disappeared and was found again after 150 years...
